Merepe Beach
gratuitoMerepe is the stretch of beach just north of the Vila de Porto de Galinhas (the village center), a few minutes' walk from the center, where several pousadas (guesthouses) and hotels are located. It mainly suits people staying there who want to be close to the small town center without depending on a car.

The name also refers to the neighborhood behind the beachfront, divided into subdivisions such as Merepe II. Some places to stay are about 10 minutes' walk from the center of the Vila; others, farther north, about 2.5 km away. Following the beachfront north, you reach Cupe and then Muro Alto.
Swimming here calls for care. In September 2022, the Ipojuca city government stated that the area is considered dangerous for swimming and has signage. Follow the signs, do not go into the sea when there is a current and, for calm swimming, choose the natural pools of the Vila at low tide.
