Toquinho is in the south of Ipojuca (PE), where the Sirinhaém River meets the sea. On the other bank of the river is Barra de Sirinhaém, already in the neighboring municipality. The beach suits those looking for peace and quiet and natural pools.
Sea, river and natural pools
On the ocean side, the waves are strong. A reef barrier, similar to the one at Muro Alto, forms natural pools at low tide; check the tide table. On the river side, the water is calm and the sand extends in a peninsula to the river mouth. The beach is usually quiet.
Access
The beach is inside the Marinas do Rio Aquirá development, which has 11 access points to the sand and keeps a gatehouse that asks for ID. In 2026, a court ordered signs to be installed stating that access to the beach is free, and the Pernambuco Public Prosecutor's Office appealed to end the controls at the gates.
Santo Aleixo Island
Santo Aleixo Island can be seen on the horizon. Speedboats to the island leave from Barra de Sirinhaém, on the other bank of the river, and cost R$ 100 per person in September 2025, with a beach umbrella and chair included.
