Casa dos Bonecos Gigantes e Mirins de Olinda
R$The Casa dos Bonecos Gigantes e Mirins de Olinda is in the Alto da Sé area and displays giant puppets from the city's Carnival, about 2 meters tall. It is a good fit for families with children and for those who want a close look at the puppets that parade through the steep streets during Carnival.

Getting there from Porto de Galinhas
By car, it is about 67 to 69 km from Porto de Galinhas, via Recife, 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes without traffic. The house is at Rua Bispo Coutinho, 780, in Carmo, among the Alto da Sé attractions, and you can combine the visit with the Catedral da Sé, the Convento de São Francisco and the small tapioca market (tapioca is a filled cassava crepe).
Hours and admission
The house opens every day. In September 2025, admission was R$ 10 in cash or by Pix, Brazil's instant payment, and R$ 11 by card. Opening and closing times are not confirmed for 2026.
What to see
The puppets are made of fiberglass and portray personalities and characters such as Lampião and Maria Bonita, Alceu Valença, Ariano Suassuna, Luiz Gonzaga, Ney Matogrosso, Fernanda Torres and Paulo Gustavo, among other names from music, literature and television. There is also a replica of the Homem da Meia-Noite (Midnight Man).
Before you go
Allow about half an hour. Don't confuse it with the Embaixada dos Bonecos Gigantes, a venue with a similar concept in Recife, on Rua do Bom Jesus. To see the puppets in the streets, Carnival 2027 runs from Saturday, February 6, to Tuesday, February 9.
