PE-009 Highway (Rota do Atlântico)

The PE-009 is the toll state highway that gives access to the Suape Industrial and Port Complex and to the beaches on the southern coast of Pernambuco, including Porto de Galinhas. It is part of the Rota do Atlântico system and is usually the shortest route between Recife airport and the Vila (the village center of Porto de Galinhas).

Who operates it

The Concessionária Rota do Atlântico operates a road system made up of three state highways, the PE-009, the VPE-052 and the VPE-034, in the municipalities of Cabo de Santo Agostinho and Ipojuca. In December 2023, about 20,000 vehicles a day used the system.

Toll

Rates are adjusted every year as set out in the contract, with authorization from the Pernambuco Regulatory Agency (Arpe). Since January 4, 2026, cars and pickups pay R$ 11.60, and motorcycles R$ 5.80. In January 2024, the rate for cars was R$ 10.70.

How to use it

From Recife airport, the route follows the BR-101 and then the PE-009. The highway also serves areas outside the Vila: car access to Serrambi is via the PE-009, and the studio of the artist Carcará, creator of the destination's colorful chickens, is reached from km 7.
