Getting there from Porto de Galinhas

Porto de Galinhas is about 50 km from Recife, and the Oficina is 18 km from Boa Viagem and 15 km from the center. By car, access is via Avenida Caxangá, continuing along Rua Gastão Vidigal and Rua Diogo de Vasconcelos. The last 2 km are on a dirt road, and there is parking on site. You can also go by ride-hailing app. By bus, the route the museum recommends is to go to the TI CDU terminal and take the UR-07 Várzea line.

Hours and admission

Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 to 17:00, with last entry at 16:00. Closed on Mondays. In October 2026, full-price admission costs R$ 50 and half-price R$ 25; residents of Pernambuco pay R$ 40 and R$ 20. Children up to age 5, public school teachers and students, and guides, among others, get in free. Allow about two hours for the visit.

What to see

At the entrance, a lawn holds sculptures such as Os Comediantes (1981) and Vênus sequestrada (1988). The Pátio do Templo is an open-air sculpture corridor with the Mãe Terra wall. The sculpture halls, in the pavilions of the old factory, hold more than 500 works across ten spaces. There is also Praça Burle Marx, a garden designed by Roberto Burle Marx, and the Templo do Sacrifício, dedicated to the memory of Indigenous peoples who were victims of colonial wars. Brennand set up his studio there in 1971 and died in 2019. The complex has a café, a restaurant and a shop.

Before you go

It is not permitted to touch the works or climb on the sculptures, smoke in indoor areas, bring food and drink into exhibition areas or use flash in the galleries. Small animals are allowed only in open areas, on a leash. The Instituto Ricardo Brennand is in the same neighborhood and opens at 13:00, so you can do the Oficina in the morning and the Instituto in the afternoon.
