Getting there from Porto de Galinhas
By car it is about 67 to 69 km from Porto de Galinhas, via Recife, between 1 hour and 1 hour 10 minutes without traffic. The museum is at Rua do Amparo, 128, in the Amparo neighborhood. Largo do Amparo is one of the spots in the Historic Site with 24-hour monitoring cameras.
Hours and admission
It opens Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00, and on Saturdays and Sundays, 14:00 to 17:00. It is closed on Mondays. Admission is free for everyone. The phone number is (81) 3184-3159.
What to see
The mansion is an 18th-century colonial-style manor house. The collection brings together furniture, porcelain and sacred images that, beyond their historical value, reflect the customs of an era. In September 2026, during Primavera dos Museus, the museum presented the exhibition Festas de Pernambuco, with digital prints by Hévio Polito Lopes Filho.
Before you go
The hours are the same as those of the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Pernambuco, in Varadouro, which also has free admission, so you can visit both museums on the same day without spending on tickets. On weekends, both open only in the afternoon, 14:00 to 17:00. If you also want to fit in the churches, remember that the Catedral da Sé usually closes at 17:00 and the Convento de São Francisco closes over lunchtime.
