Caminho de Moisés
gratuitoThe Caminho de Moisés (Moses' Path) is a sandbar that appears at very low tide off Barra Grande Beach, north of central Maragogi (AL), and stretches out to sea. You can reach it on foot from the seafront, with no admission fee. It is a good fit for those who want photos and a walk in the sea without hiring a boat.

Getting there from Porto de Galinhas
Central Maragogi is about 85 km from Porto de Galinhas, 1 hour 20 minutes to 2 hours by car via the PE-060. Barra Grande Beach is 3 to 5 km from the center, along the AL-101 Norte, heading toward Pernambuco. The sandbar starts at the seafront, in front of Barra Mar Beach Club. There is free parking on nearby streets, as long as you use the permitted areas. There are also speedboat tours that leave from Barra Grande and stop at the Caminho.
Hours and admission
There is no ticket office and no fixed schedule. The sandbar only appears on 4 or 5 days a month, with the tide between -0.1 and 0.2, and stays exposed for about three hours. Arrive one hour before the time of the lowest tide. In October 2026, the shared speedboat that leaves from Barra Grande and passes the natural pool, the Caminho de Moisés and Antunes Beach cost R$ 130 per person, on a two-hour tour.
What to see
A strip of sand and gravel made of small pebbles and shells that divides the sea, with about 800 meters of walking to a rock formation. On site there are photographers with hammock and swing setups, jangadas, traditional sail rafts, selling drinks, and speedboats that make cocktails. One hour on the sandbar is usually enough.
Before you go
- The place gets crowded: those who arrive before 7:00 find fewer people.
- Don't go alone, and keep track of the time to head back, because the sandbar disappears when the tide comes in.
- Wind and rain can change the formation, even on a day with a good tide.
- Since March 2026, a municipal law has banned commercial jet ski tours in Maragogi.
