Getting around the beaches of Porto de Galinhas
Porto de Galinhas covers about 18 km of coastline with different beaches, from Muro Alto, in the north, to Maracaípe and the Pontal de Maracaípe, in the south. To get from one beach to another, the options are Uber, taxi, a rental car and the end-to-end buggy tour.
Distances from the Vila
Muro Alto is about 10 km north of the Vila (the village center of Porto de Galinhas), according to the Melhores Destinos guide. The same guide estimates 15 to 30 minutes by car between Cupe Beach and the Vila, depending on the starting point and traffic. To the south, Maracaípe is about 4 km from the center, less than 6 minutes by car, according to the local guide Vivo Porto de Galinhas. From Maracaípe Beach, you can walk to the Pontal de Maracaípe at low tide. Serrambi, farther south, also belongs to Ipojuca, and car access is via the PE-009.
Uber, taxi and car
Uber operates in Recife and in Ipojuca, the municipality Porto de Galinhas belongs to. There are also taxis, which also make the trip to the airport. Renting a car is another option. For arriving from Recife, see How to get to Porto de Galinhas.
End-to-end buggy tour
The most popular buggy tour is the end-to-end tour, which links the beaches from the north to the south of the destination, with stops along the way. Since 2020, the buggy tour has been part of Ipojuca's intangible heritage, by municipal law.
